A new edited volume about the religious roots of the White Rose is in completion. It’ll be published some time in December 2011. Its German title: “Die Staerkeren im Geiste“, edited by Detlef Bald and Jakob Knab. The title alludes to Sophie Scholl’s letter, dated October 28, 1942: “Yes, we do believe in the victory of the stronger, but the stronger in spirit.”
The original German says: Ich widme diesen Aufsatz dem Historiker und Theologen Dermot Fenlon (Dublin, Cambridge und Birmingham) zu seinem 70. Geburtstag am 4. Dezember 2011. In English: This essay about the religious mentors of the White Rose is dedicated to the historian and theologian Dermot Fenlon (Dublin, Cambrigde and Birmingham) on the occasion of his 70th birthday on Sunday, 4 December 2011.
